ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the role of professional sports leagues in promoting the sales of sporting goods in the U.S. National Football League (NFL) sales were just above flat for the fiscal year 2007 as the New England Patriots dominance through the regular season seemed to stymie sales for many of the leagues other teams. Major League Baseball (MLB) sales increased just over 10 percent for the year as the Boston Red Sox won their second World Series in three years.
