ABSTRACT
This article reports on the competition among automobile manufacturers. Companies are increasing the cash incentives they are offering to buyers in an effort to gain market shares. General Motors Corp. and DaimlerChrysler have announced cash-back deals to consumers. The average incentive per vehicle has increased 15 to 30 percent since June 1999.
