Multichannel News;5/12/2008, Vol. 29 Issue 19, p6
The article reports on the success of satellite provider DirecTV Inc. The company gains about 275,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2008, however, it was affected with the move of its wireless broadband partner Clearwire Corp. to team up with several DirecTV's cable archrivals in a $12 billion WiMax joint venture. Analysts forcasted that the company would see subscriber gain slow down due to the housing construction downturn and the customer gains some cable operators.
