ABSTRACT
The article reports on the developments in the American Montessori Society (AMS) as of April 1999. The society conducted a seminar in Houston, Texas, which was attended by about 1400 AMS members. During the event, a parent focus group provided information on how parents can better serve their families. The society has also formed a Search Committee, which will be in-charged of identifying candidates for the new position of Director of Professional Services. Two AMS members have already finished their terms, including John Chattin-McNichols and Judith Cunningham. The author has also finished her term as AMS president.
