The article examines the increasing popularity Second Life (SL), a virtual world that anyone who has a personal computer (PC) can visit, among employers such as IBM and Manpower. A growing number of real firms, such as Cisco and PA Consulting, have built virtual offices, showrooms, meeting rooms, conference facilities, training or leisure spaces on SL that enable them to do certain things more easily and cheaply than in the real world.
