ABSTRACT
The article discusses the life and works of American inventor Charles Francis Jenkins. He was born in 1867. His main hobby was photography that led to his interest in the new art of motion pictures. In association with another inventor Thomas Armat, he produced a modified version of Edison's Kinetoscope which he called the Phantoscope. Moreover, he built a device called a Rotating Lens Camera. He died in 1934 without seeing the mass popularity of television.
