The article presents a profile of actor and dramatist Daniel Beaty. Beaty was the youngest of five children raised by a single mother in Dayton, Ohio. In high school, Beaty was active in theatre and forensics. He trained at Yale University as an actor, opera singer, and writer before getting a Master of Fine Arts from the American Conservatory Theater. Beaty's play "Emergency," won an Obie Award for outstanding writing and performance last year.
