The article discusses operation audits for financial planning firms. Financial planners need to be efficient, accountable, and able to proactively address client needs. An audit can further these ends by identifying gaps and weaknesses in the firm's operations. A comprehensive audit will cover five areas including management, staffing, workflow, technology, and compliance. Upon completion the audit should serve as the basis for an operations action plan that identifies persons responsible for the adoption of any recommendations, along with deadlines for their completion.
