ABSTRACT
The article highlights a brief history of the emergence of library technician programs in Canada. In 1962, it started with a one-year program offered by the Manitoba Institute of Technology in Winnipeg and it was successfully followed by another set of learning institutions. It also elucidates the step-by-step modifications of the school admission policies and the active role of the Canadian Library Association.
