ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the design concept of underfloor-air-distribution (UFAD) systems which save energy and deliver better occupant comfort and indoor-air quality. UFAD systems utilize the space under the access floor as a supply-air plenum by taking advantage of thermal stratification to reduce energy use. The key to successful UFAD system is the ability of the diffuser to mix room air into supply air rapidly at low velocities.
