ABSTRACT
The article reports on the launch by Nordel, the central co-operative organisation for Nordic transmission system operators, of a new Grid Master Plan 2008 (GMP-2008) to eliminate price differences within the Nordic region's primary power production and distribution zones. The region's electricity system is currently divided into seven price areas with often considerable price variations. The GMP-2008 envisages the doubling of regional system and infrastructural investments within the next five years.
