The article focuses on the benefits of the long-distance military education program being offered by Excelsior College in Albany, New York to soldiers on active-duty. According to program coordinator U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Jim Slavin, online and CD-ROM courses can keep soldiers on-target toward degree completion. Over 6,000 active-duty and reserve-component military students are pursuing degrees with Excelsior College through online or CD-ROM courses. Reduced tuition and scholarships are also given to military spouses.
