ABSTRACT
Accurate measurement of dye concentration in dyebaths is a basic step for dyeing process control and dyebath reuse. Dye concentration is usually measured by spectrophotometry, using a linear model. Since dye molecules may aggregate at high concentrations, the linear relationship between dye concentration and absorbance is not suitable over a wide concentration range. Investigation of the linear regression results over different concentration ranges shows that a large relative error may appear for some dyes treated using a linear model. By treating the relationship between dye concentration and absorbance with an exponential model, the relative error can be remarkably decreased over a wide concentration range.
