Reports on the layoff of 490 workers at Saturn Corp.'s car assembly plant in Wilmington, Delaware due to the slow sales of the mid-sized L-series sedan and wagon. Ford Motor Co.'s 36 percent cut in production at its AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, Michigan; Slow selling Mercury Cougar and Mazda 626; Number of L-series sedans sold by Saturn in the year ended April 2000.
