ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of Asda supermarket to increase the price it pays for British pork by 4 pence/kilogram (p/kg), but producers are not satisfied. The British Pig Industry Support Group (BPISG) wants the supermarket to augment its store prices, to help avert a shortage of pork later in 2008. According to a BPISG spokesman, most retailers accept that pork production in Great Britain could come to an end if producers can not recover some of the cost of the increasing of feed ingredients.
