ABSTRACT
The article presents a historical perspective on the investment market. In 1907, J.P. Morgan pressured other bankers to assist trust banks and consumer confidence was restored. Businessman Ronald Perelman acquired savings and loan First Gibraltar for $160 million in 1988. Investors Timothy Collins and J. Christopher Flowers purchased Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan in 1999 for $1.1 billion.
