The article reports that Dr. Alain Beaudet, incoming President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), urged physicians of Canada to be involved in medical research to ensure bench science is transferred to medical care practice. It mentions that Beaudet asserts that decreased involvement of physician in research is counterproductive to the research enterprise because doctors are important factor in the whole knowledge transfer into practice. Factors being cited as reason for the decline of doctors' involvement in research include clinical demands, teaching loads and administrative and financial pressures.
