ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the two awards received by the Harvard University's Nieman Foundation for Journalism, which honor independent investigative journalism. The Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Reporting honors magazine or newspaper investigative reporting of stories of national significance where the public interest is ill served. Meanwhile, the I. F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence is an award to be presented to a journalist whose work captures the spirit of independence, integrity and courage. Information on newspaper publisher Robert Worth Bingham and investigative journalist Izzy Stone, from whom the awards were named, is presented.
