ABSTRACT
This article reports on the studies on the problem of unrecognized and poorly managed diabetes at the time of acute myocardial infarction (MI). Presented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2007 in Orlando, Florida, the studies suggested that hyperglycemia may be associated with short-term and long-term adverse outcomes, especially for people without prior history of diabetes. According to researcher Silvio E. Inzucchi, intensive glucose management during acute MI may improve outcomes.
