The article focuses on a debate between electricity market regulators in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland over how to implement a new scheme of payment for ancillary grid services. The regulatory authorities decided in February 2008 that such services in the single electricity market would be priced separately. The Irish government named five firms said to be shortlisted bidders for power stations of ESB on the Great Island in Cork and Tarbert in Kerry County, including Endesa.
