This article presents the viewpoint of Henry A. Davis, coauthor of "Financial Turnaround: Preserving Value," on the skills a chief financial executive needs to successfully complete a corporate turnaround. People management and diplomatic skills are required to survive the crisis stage. But longer-term skills include understanding the proper business model and key performance indicators.
