ABSTRACT
The article presents the views of several U.S. Navy commanders on the Portuguese Navy's control of sea operations and Royal Bahamas Defence Force. Melo Gomes says that Portugal's history and national sentiment are intrinsically connected to the sea. Gomes further says that Portugal secured its sovereignty and wealth through the sea. Clifford Scavella says that the budgets of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force have increased steadily to meet its demands.
