Academic Journal
The article discusses the professional achievements of Larry Carter, chief financial officer (CFO) at Cisco Systems Inc. Carter worked at several high technology firms before joining Cisco as CFO in 1995. As the top financial executive of a fast-growing company Carter attempts to impose reasonable controls without robbing the firm of its entrepreneurial spirit. He also spends up to one-fifth of his time managing investors' and analysts' expectations for Cisco. Other initiatives include a bonus system based partly on customer satisfaction, and an effort to require annual training for all finance personnel.
