ABSTRACT
The article offers a guide for actors on creating a cabaret act. The type of intimacy that cabaret performances offer can be unnerving for even the most seasoned performer, but the results can be greatly rewarding. Cabaret can be a way for actors to put themselves in business. It emphasizes the importance of the pianist in a cabaret performance. The show needs to be balanced and have an easy, natural flow. There must be ups and downs in the energy, as well as humor and sentiment. To try out their material, actors can attend open mikes.
