Triterpenoids from Saussurea ussuriensis

From an extract of the whole plant of Saussurea ussuriensis, three new triterpenoids, 1�-hydroxy-ursa-9(11), 12-dien-3�-yl palmitate (ussuriensin A) (1), 1�-hydroxy-oleana-9(11), 12-dien-3�-yl palmitate (ussuriensin B) (2), and 28-hydroxy-taraxast-20(30)-ene-3�-yl palmitate (ussuriensin C) (3), as well as five known triterpenoids, 11�-hydroxy-urs-12-en-3-one (4), 11�-hydroxy-urs-12-en-3�-yl palmitate (5), ursa-9(11), 12-dien-3-one (marsformosanone) (6), 3�-hydroxy-30-norlupan-20-one (7), and taraxast-20(30)-en-3�, 21a-diol (8) were isolated. Their structures were characterized by various spectroscopic methods, including 1D NMR, 2D NMR, and HR-ESI-MS.
