The article presents information on the core-insertion technology that resulted in cords with better resistance to compressive fatigue. The core-inserted cord Kevlar is used by DuPont Corp. to achieve both good tensile properties and good fatigue resistance. The core technology helps prevent the cord from knotting during the compression cycle. Core insertion was developed to improve the resistance of aramid fiber cords.
