ABSTRACT
The article reports on the interest of Nita Clarke, director of the Involvement and Participation Association (IPA) to move the issue of employee engagement up the political agenda in Great Britain. In her first IPA bulletin, Nita Clarke appealed for a debate on good work, the phrase coined by the Work Foundation to mean a high quality of working life leading to high performance. She argued that global competition required a new way of thinking about the employment relationship.
