ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the impact of the housing slump in 2007 in the U.S. on the sales of household appliances in 2008. It has been claimed that suppliers of metals to kitchen and laundry equipment manufacturers can expect a further weakness. The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers in Washington, D.C. reported a total of 3.86 million major appliances shipped in January 2008, a decline of 17 percent from 2007.
