ABSTRACT
The article reports on the closure of a large Collins & Aikman (C&A) plastics plant in Guelph, Ontario. The facility employs more than 500. The Guelph facility counts Chrysler llc as a key customer. Layoffs occurred last November in response to Chrysler deciding to stop production of its Pacifica crossover sport utility vehicle. Canadian Auto Workers Local 1917, the union representing the workers at the plant is trying to save the plant by finding a buyer or convincing C&A to keep it open.
