The Tangle of Hotel Ownership

The article offers suggestions on how to go about planning a hotel booking for meetings or conventions. The author states that with almost 75% of all hotels in the U.S. operating as franchises, meeting planners seldom know who they are dealing with. This is brought about, he claims, by the "flag name," or the name found in front of the hotel. "Flag names" can be misleading, he says, because it does not differentiate between a "real" hotel and one operated by a franchisee. An overview of the author's suggestions is presented.
