ABSTRACT
This article reports on the decision of Philips Electronics NV to sell an additional 6.4 percent stake in flat-panel maker LG Display Co. This move will raise approximately $1 billion. Philips held a near 45 percent share when LG.Philips LCD Co. launched its initial public offering in July 2004. Since then, the electronics giant has made clear plans to focus on its core businesses and spinning out divisions, including its semiconductor business, which later became NXP Semiconductors.
