ABSTRACT
The article reports on the increase in consumer credit outstanding in the U.S. in January 2008 based on the monthly Consumer Credit Survey conducted by the Federal Reserve Board. The increase can be attributed to the 7% increase in borrowing on revolving accounts which consist of credit cards. During the month, the total consumer credit outstanding exceeded $2.52 trillion.
