ABSTRACT
The article features the development of the State-Assisted Academic Library Council of Kentucky (SAALCK). According to the author, it was hoped that SAALCK could become the voice for libraries with the Council of Public Higher Education and that working with the council would prove beneficial for writing and securing larger grants. SAALCK officially came into existence on March 1, 1974 and after many years of regular meetings and active committees, in April of 1982, it was suggested that SAALCK needed to meet only once a year at the fall Kentucky Library Association meeting.
