ABSTRACT
The article reports developments related to the research and development partnership of U.S.-based Intel and STMicroelectronics. The companies were noted to reach a key industry milestone when they began shipping prototype samples of a future electronic product named Alverstone, which uses the new memory technology Phase Change Memory (PCM). Moreover, at the International Solid States Circuits Conference (ISSCC), Intel and STMicroelectronics technologists presented a research on the world's first demonstrable high-density multi-level cell (MLC) large memory device using the PCM technology.
