The Independent Distributor

De Bruyn, Simon
February 2008
Inside Film;Feb2008, Issue 106, p11
The article reflects on the changes in film distribution and the emergence of a new breed of filmmakers. Jim Xyga, Andrew O'Keefe and John Studley from Apocalypse Films, who produced and directed "The Independent" in 2007, are cited as examples of independent filmmakers. They are now distributing the film in their own way by sending high definition 2K digital copies of the film to independent cinemas equipped to project films digitally. The support of cinema owners has contributed much to their success, the article notes.
