ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the effects of Academy Award nominations on the sales of documentary videos. Reportedly, the sales of "An Inconvenient Truth," the 2007 Academy Award winner, have jumped 103% after its win. The same is true for the 2006 winner "March of the Penguins," where a rise in sales just before and after the awards was noted. Other documentaries mentioned include Michael Moore's "Sicko," the Iraq war documentary "No End in Sight" and "War/Dance" from ThinkFilm/Velocity.
