ABSTRACT
The article reports on carbon credit trading which opens the door for new insurance and capital products. A total of 2.7 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent are traded over the year in 2006. The growth is due to the costs of reducing emissions of about $1 trillion by 2050. Insurers can play a role through the potential liabilities of carbon credits. Carbon credit delivery insurance helps address risks including technological performance, credit, political, and pricing risks.
