Berkshire Hathaway Buys 3% Stake, 20% of P/C Exposure from Swiss Re

The article reports that Berkshire Hathaway Inc. based in Omaha, Nebraska has acquired a 3.03% stake in Swiss Re and has taken the 20% property and casualty reinsurance exposure of the company through a quota share arrangement. The said transaction allows Berkshire Hathaway to assume a 20% share of all of Swiss Re's property and casualty business for the next five years. The deal will also gives Swiss Re an opportunity to frees up their capital and invest in other opportunities.
