ABSTRACT
The article features the story behind the unit patch worn by Cadet Brandon Thompson in his football jersey during the 2007 season. Thompson, who plays for the U.S. Military Academy's football team, was granted to wear the Thunderbird unit patch of the 45th Infantry Brigade of the Oklahoma Army National Guard, as requested by his father, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Thompson. Brigadier General Myles Deering, the brigade's commander, says the patch demonstrates the unity of the U.S. Army.
