This article looks at the significance of the Internet and virtual reality for companies involved in the telecommunications, electricity, water and gas industry in Great Britain and Europe. One of the strengths of the Internet is that it is possible to identify precise consumers who are interested in specific services. This can be achieved through sponsoring search words or targeting specific Internet communities. Virtual worlds also offer the benefit of anonymity, allowing more open modeling of energy consumption and constructive criticism.
