The article provides information on the kinase regulatory-loop binding (KRLB). KRLB was once considered as a domain that has adhering properties analogous to phosphotyrosine binding (PTB) domains. However, a study showed that KLRB is a short peptide segment that conjugates to insulin receptor to its catalytic cleft through Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and autoinhibitory loop.

An ingenious system evolved to facilitate insulin binding to the insulin receptor as a monomer and at the same time ensure sufficient stability of insulin during storage. Insulin dimer is the cornerstone of this system. Insulin dimer is relatively weak, which ensures dissociation into monomers...

The demonstration of leptin receptors on the pancreatic beta-cells suggests the possibility of direct actions of leptin on insulin secretion. In vitro studies on islets or perfused pancreas and beta-cell lines produced inconsistent results. We performed an in vivo study to distinctly examine...

OBJECTIVES:Cannulation of the pancreatic duct at ERCP can represent a technical challenge, even to experienced pancreaticobiliary endoscopists. Secretin is a polypeptide hormone that increases the volume and bicarbonate content of pancreatic secretions. We report our single center experience in...

Background: Glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and its analogue exendin-4 (Ex-4) enhance glucose stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) and activate various signaling pathways in pancreatic b-cells, in particular cAMP, Ca2+ and protein kinase-B (PKB/Akt). In many cells these signals activate...

Exon 11 of the insulin receptor gene (INSR) is alternatively spliced in a developmentally and tissue-specific manner. Linker scanning mutations in a 5' GA-rich enhancer in intron 10 identified AGGGA sequences that are important for enhancer function. Using RNA-affinity purification and mass...

Objectives: Amylin is a novel 37 amino acid that is secreted together with insulin from the pancreas in response to enteral nutrient intake.
