The article discusses the Communications Service Providers (CSPs) approach in managing the competitive pressures in the telecommunications industry in the U.S. One new approach is the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), an architectural approach that addresses information technology complexity through standardization, componentization, re-use and automation. The industry threats as well as the adaption of the innovative services by CSPs are also discussed.
