ABSTRACT
The article reports on the United States publishing industry's campaign for less restrictions in the industry with regards to cross-ownership. Publishers around the country are demanding that the Federal Communications Commission change the rules with regards to cross-ownership in the publishing industry, just like what the agency did in the field of television and radio broadcasting. The publishing industry is lobbying to be given the opportunity to compete in a multimedia environment by opening the way for these companies to operate a broadcast station in markets where they already own a newspaper.
