ABSTRACT
The article discusses vermicomposting or worm composting. The earthworm's beneficial bacteria and fungi located inside its gut are explored. The benefits of worm castings which include improved plant growth, soil softening, biological decomposition, fungus control of the soil, insect repellency and odor elimination are considered. The difference between thermal or hot-method composting and vermicomposting, as well as suggestions for making worm compost are discussed.
