ABSTRACT
The article reports on the effect of the spring 2000 fluctuations in the value of Internet startup ventures' stock. Recruiting and retaining employees is difficult in the so-called dot-com companies. Stock fluctuations caused many Internet companies to postpone their public offerings. Interwoven was so desperate to sign software engineers that it promised to give BMW Z3 roadsters to the first 20 recruits who qualified.
