ABSTRACT
This article reports on the repositioning of "Cigar Aficionado" as an upscale men's lifestyle magazine in April 2000. In addition to a new logo, the magazine will feature expanded coverage of such topics as finance, sports, politics and travel. The goal is to draw new readers who may not indulge in cigars while retaining a grip on the core audience. Cigar-related stories and reviews now will be packaged in the back of each issue. In its new form, magazine owner Marvin Shanken believes "Cigar Aficionado" has a chance to reach a circulation of 500, 000 within five years.
