ABSTRACT
The article presents the views of executives regarding issues related to public-sector spending in 2008 in the U.S. Council of State Governments (CSG) Head Sujit M. Canaga-Retna predicts that national economic trends will affect state finances. Urban Institute's Kim Reuben is less optimistic about state budgets and expects a fallout in Wall Street and the housing market. Center for American Progress' P. J. Crowley predicts improvement in border security, citizenship and immigration services.
