ABSTRACT
The article reports that more than a quarter of nursing students failed to complete diploma courses with attrition rate of 26.4 as of 2008, resulting other schools to slash nursing courses in Scotland. The government recommended that nursing student numbers should be reduced and that £5 million saved would be invested in reducing attrition. The Information and Statistics Division of National Health Service (NHS) revealed the increasing number of nursing and midwifery job vacancies.
