ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the State of the Union messages written by former U.S. Presidents as letters. George Washington gave the shortest State of the Union speech of 1,080 words on January 8, 1790. Bill Clinton gave six of the 10 wordiest State of the Union speeches of 9,200 words . The longest written State of the Union message of 33.667 words was by Jimmy Carter in 1981.
