ABSTRACT
The article presents a profile on George McGovern, former U.S. Senator and member of the U.S. House of Representatives. McGovern ran for the Democratic nomination for U.S. presidency in 1972 but lost to former U.S. President Richard Nixon. He grew up, a minister's son, in South Dakota and was a political moralist. He was also a part of the commission to reform the U.S. presidential nomination process.
